Consumer Directed Health: Making Sense of HRA’s, HSA’s and FSA’s
Healthcare costs are rising at breakneck speed, and employers are being crushed under the weight of these new challenges. Consumer directed health plans have emerged as a viable option to cut costs while still providing employees with the benefits and security they expect. Sure, these plans can potentially save you money, but are they right for your company, and are you aware of their key compliance implications?

This discussion will review how the consumer directed model works, the impact consumerism can have on healthcare decisions and spending, lessons learned from early adopters, and an insider’s overview of new government initiatives to make CDHPs more attractive for employers and employees alike.

Speaker, Rob Smith is Manger of Government Relations for Ceridian Corporation. Rob joined Ceridian in 2006 after serving for five years as a senior legislative aide to Congressman Rick Boucher on Capitol Hill where he specialized in healthcare, pension, military and immigration policy. In his role in Ceridian's Washington, DC government relations office, Rob represents Ceridian in federal legislative and regulatory affairs meetings with Congressional offices on Capitol Hill and with organizations such as the American Benefits Council, the American Payroll Association, and the Society for Human Resource Management. He is also a regular contributor to Ceridian’s monthly e-newsletter, Ceridian Connection, and its other customer publications.
