Please join the Board for breakfast on August 21, 2003. This month’s topic is Wage & Hour Compliance. At this session you will learn about Employers’ compliance with the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, including coverage by the Act, Record Keeping Requirements, Minimum Wage, Overtime, Hours Worked issues, Youth Employment, and exemptions (including the new proposal for the “white collar” exemptions). Also, for those interested, questions will be taken on these topics and also on the Family Medical Leave Act.

Our speaker is Pete Janitch. Pete’s title is “Investigator”. He is the senior Investigator in the Minneapolis District Office and has been employed by the Wage and Hour Division - United States Department of Labor for the past 23+ years. Mr. Janitch is a graduate of the School of Business at Southern Illinois University. He has served as the District Office Team Leader for various programs administered by the Division including: Child Labor (now called Youth Employment), Government Contracts enforcement and all Immigration – related matters.

National Payroll Week is September 1 – 5, 2003. We will be celebrating NPW at our August 21^st meeting.
