The Northstar Chapter Celebrates National Payroll Week!

In keeping with our longtime tradition, the chapter celebrated NPW at our August member meeting.  Membership Chair and former Communications Chair Patrick White CPP noted “This is my favorite part of National Payroll Week…the opportunity to celebrate amongst ourselves and acknowledge the hard work we do as payroll professionals.”  The meeting room was festively decorated with lots of balloons and NPW posters; and the tables were covered with colorful foil stars, play money, money pencils, and 100 Grand candy bars.  A big cake, beautifully decorated with the current NPW “America Works” logo, was on display near the registration table, and later served to all the attendees.

Prior to the main topic presentation, Patrick announced a couple of games as part of the fun.  A game of chance was a collection of some nice giveaway prizes, offered to anyone with a corresponding prize tag under their chair.  Numerous attendees received Northstar leather binder portfolios, Caribou coffee gift cards, official NPW teddy bears, and Northstar T-shirts!  A game of skill was also offered--a short eight-question quiz offering attendees a chance to test their knowledge of multi-state payroll laws and regulations.  Four attendees got seven of the eight questions correct, and a drawing was held to determine the winner.  Congratulations are extended to Laurie Bussman CPP of Metris Companies, who received a $25 SuperCertificate© gift certificate, good at dozens of retailers in the metro area.  Click here to view the quiz questions (Word document opens a new window) and answers (the correct answers are noted in red).
