IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE APA Within the past week you may have received an email from Larry Holyoke of TALX Corp. inviting you and your chapter members to a free eSeminar. The email referred to APA, and displayed the CPP and FPC designations. We want you to know that the APA is not sponsoring this event, nor have we been involved with the development of the course content. For those who are recertifying as a CPP or FPC through continuing education, please follow the same guidelines that you would for any educational event that you plan to submit for recertification credit, as explained in your Recertification File Folder. That is, request an agenda, then determine if the content is appropriate by comparing it to the Content Outline for the appropriate exam (CPP or FPC); and request back-up documentation such as a certificate of attendance for the event. Suzanne Klauenberg, Ph.D.

A Look at the First Half of 2003 Highlights
From the APA Web Site
21st Annual Congress in Las Vegas, Nevada - April 29-May 3, 2003
Labor Department Proposes Long-Awaited Revision of White Collar Exemption Regulations On March 31, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division proposed sweeping changes to the regulations defining who is exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The regulations would update salary levels used in determining exempt status for the first time since 1975, while the duties tests would receive their first overhaul since 1949. DOL hopes the new rules will make it easier for employers to properly classify employees as exempt or nonexempt, and will help employees understand when they are due overtime pay.

The Food Shelves can buy 5 times as much for each dollar because they have access to discounted food that we do not. All you need to do is to make your check out to "Minnesota Food Share" and write "Iron Range Fund" in the memo section. Northstar has a new mailing address!
Please update your personal records or notify your company's Accounts Payable area if you currently have Northstar set up for registration fee payment. We will be forwarding mail from our old address for a period of time however, it could delay getting information to a Board member.
