The September 5th meeting was discussed.  The topic is Outsourcing Selections.  Eleanor Falk from ADP will give an overall view of outsourcing and will mention the different areas of Payroll and Human Resources that can be outsourced.  Cheryl O’Brien from Deluxe will discuss the outsourcing of Payroll Taxes, and Barb Muellerleile from Land O’Lakes will discuss outsourcing Benefits.  We will also have Payroll Connect articles regarding outsourcing to distribute during the meeting.

The Northstar Chapter will be serving dinner at the Ronald McDonald House on Wednesday, September 4th

CPP pins will be handed out during September’s meeting to all CPP’s who have responded to the Member Survey on the web site.

There will not be an October meeting due to the conference.  Sharlene and Karen will contact Patty Lake about returning as our Year-End speaker for November’s meeting and Karen will check with contacts at the University of Minnesota’s HR department regarding a Personal Development speaker for December’s meeting.

Marsha handed out the Northstar Chapter Board of Director’s Guide.  Thank you Marsha for putting the guide together!

Sheri mentioned that the planning for the Fall Conference is going well.  Speakers have been notified and brochures will be sent out by September 5th.    The brochures will direct attendees to visit the web site if they would like more details.   Eleanor will find a contact at the Twin City HRA to post the conference on their web site.  Sheri mentioned that she thought the Northstar Chapter was liable for 60 rooms and for the 2nd Conference Day (unless the hotel books the space).  Sheri will contact Marla regarding the number of rooms that were guaranteed.  Robin will send out a form to the speakers regarding their audio needs and also if anyone can bring a proxima.  Marsha noted that she can bring a proxima.   Sheri will also find out what the hotel’s equipment fee is.

Sheri will follow up with Mary that all the vendors have been contacted.  The vendor fair will be during breakfast.

The conference this year will have both Linda Obertin, APA Payroll Woman of the Year and Irene Chapman, APA President Elect!

Eleanor mentioned that she had a meeting with the local IRS to form a partnership with the Northstar Chapter.  She stated that the IRS is trying to do different outreach programs and they would like to have a table at the vendor fair.  They would also be willing to speak at a meeting.  Eleanor has a sample survey from the IRS that will be put on the web site.  At September’s meeting it will be announced to the members to go on the web and complete the survey.  The IRS also has a payroll packet, which will be distributed to the attendee’s of the 1-2 Person Payroll Seminar at the conference.

Karen brought up that speakers who are attending the conference still need to pay for the conference.  The conference fee covers meals and other materials.  Gift Certificates are given to all the speakers.

Meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
