Meeting called to order at 9:30 a.m.
ATTENDEES: Sheri Beck, Jody Dahl, Eleanor Falk, Karen
Klein, Teri McCaleb, Robin Murphy, Marsha Smith, & Sharlene Smith.
The September 5th meeting
was discussed. The topic is Outsourcing Selections. Eleanor Falk from
ADP will give an overall view of outsourcing and will mention the
different areas of Payroll and Human Resources that can be outsourced.
Cheryl O’Brien from Deluxe will discuss the outsourcing of Payroll
Taxes, and Barb Muellerleile from Land O’Lakes will discuss outsourcing
Benefits. We will also have Payroll Connect articles regarding
outsourcing to distribute during the meeting.
The Northstar Chapter will be
serving dinner at the Ronald McDonald House on Wednesday, September 4th.
CPP pins will be handed out during
September’s meeting to all CPP’s who have responded to the Member Survey
on the web site.
There will not be an October meeting
due to the conference. Sharlene and Karen will contact Patty Lake about
returning as our Year-End speaker for November’s meeting and Karen will
check with contacts at the University of Minnesota’s HR department
regarding a Personal Development speaker for December’s meeting.
Marsha handed out the Northstar
Chapter Board of Director’s Guide. Thank you Marsha for putting the
guide together!
Sheri mentioned that the planning
for the Fall Conference is going well. Speakers have been notified and
brochures will be sent out by September 5th. The brochures
will direct attendees to visit the web site if they would like more
details. Eleanor will find a contact at the Twin City HRA to post the
conference on their web site. Sheri mentioned that she thought the
Northstar Chapter was liable for 60 rooms and for the 2nd
Conference Day (unless the hotel books the space). Sheri will contact
Marla regarding the number of rooms that were guaranteed. Robin will
send out a form to the speakers regarding their audio needs and also if
anyone can bring a proxima. Marsha noted that she can bring a proxima.
Sheri will also find out what the hotel’s equipment fee is.
Sheri will follow up with Mary that
all the vendors have been contacted. The vendor fair will be during
breakfast.
The conference this year will have
both Linda Obertin, APA Payroll Woman of the Year and Irene Chapman, APA
President Elect!
Eleanor mentioned that she had a
meeting with the local IRS to form a partnership with the Northstar
Chapter. She stated that the IRS is trying to do different outreach
programs and they would like to have a table at the vendor fair. They
would also be willing to speak at a meeting. Eleanor has a sample
survey from the IRS that will be put on the web site. At September’s
meeting it will be announced to the members to go on the web and
complete the survey. The IRS also has a payroll packet, which will be
distributed to the attendee’s of the 1-2 Person Payroll Seminar at the
conference.
Karen brought up that speakers who
are attending the conference still need to pay for the conference. The
conference fee covers meals and other materials. Gift Certificates are
given to all the speakers.
