Meeting called to order at 9:40 a.m.
ATTENDEES: Jody
Dahl, Eleanor Falk, Marla Haley, Peter Matthias, Teri McCaleb, Denice
McMahon, Marsha Smith, & Sharlene Smith.
Denice asked Peter
to give the financial report for the July Business meeting and again
after the books are closed.
New CPP’s and FPC’s
will be recognized during the July meeting along with the Scholarship
winners.
Denice mentioned
giving scholarships for the CPP study courses. Terry Meggitt will be
stepping down from the study groups. Century College will begin
facilitating.
Denice also
mentioned that at Congress she & Robin found out that most of the
Chapters give out CPP pins after passing the test. Robin will buy the
pins in bulk and distribute to existing CPP’s and from now on the
Northstar Chapter will hand out to new CPP’s.
Denice asked if
Board members would like to begin giving updates of what they’ve been
doing in their board position throughout the year. The board agreed.
The October 10th
conference was discussed. Marla mentioned that she will need to step
down from her duties soon. A conference chair replacement has not been
found yet. Sharlene & Eleanor feel that the conference group chairs can
make the decisions for the conference and if a decision cannot be
reached the Board President will make the final decision.
NCS Pearson has
volunteered to facilitate the conference registrations.
Roxanne Emmerich
will be the featured speaker for the conference.
Mary Evans has
volunteered to chair the Vendor Sponsorship & Prizes group.
Denice mentioned
that board position elections well be done in July. Current board
openings are Vice-President and Conference Chair.
Marsha asked how
everyone felt about the Ronald McDonald house being the September
Outreach program during National Payroll Week. The board approved to
accept donations for the Ronald McDonald house and the board and other
Northstar Chapter members that wish to sign up will cook a meal for the
families.
Denice noted that
Century College will offer a CPP Recertification course and that those
who teach the PLS (Payroll Learning Series) classes will now receive CEU
credits.
Denice also
mentioned that she received the Chapter President Citation at Congress.
This is a new award given to all Chapter Presidents.
Sharlene asked if we
should invite Patty Lake back to facilitate the Year End Seminar in
November. The board approved. Sharlene will also contact someone Robin
heard speak about the December Team Building meeting.
Marla mentioned that
Governor Ventura’s office well sign the Proclamation for National
Payroll week.
