MINNESOTA WITHHOLDING TAX - SPECIAL UPDATE
A recent change in law eliminated the exclusion from
taxable income for wages earned while the taxpayer was a
Minnesota resident and received in a year when the taxpayer
was a full year nonresident.

MEMBER
REGISTRATION for 2008
Joining or renewing with APA Northstar for 2008
Setting up or renewing a membership with the chapter is
easy! There is no minimum level of payroll experience or
education required to be a member. We just request that
you complete a short online registration form, after
which you select whether to make your dues payment by
credit card or by check.
Dues are $50 and the membership period is for a
calendar
year. All memberships expire on December 31st. Renewal
occurs, and additional dues are payable, in January of
the following year. Please note that under our chapter
bylaws memberships are assigned to a single individual
and are not transferable.

 CPP Study Group Forming
For Fall 2008 Exam |

The Northstar
Chapter Education/Conference Chair, Nicole Clark
CPP, is organizing a CPP Study Group session for
individuals who will be taking the Fall CPP
exam.
The purpose of
the study groups is to bring together
individuals interesting in a self-study activity
that meets on a regular basis to keep them
on-track. The sessions will not be a classroom
type venue, but an opportunity to network with
others and to ask questions.

Meeting and Event Calendar
Monthly meetings (except the Annual Statewide Conference
and the November Meeting) will be held at the
Metropolitan. Meetings are usually the third Thursday of
each month unless the facility is not available - then we
will schedule as close to that date as possible.

A
new link has been added to the IRS Web site. Electronic IRS
is the gateway to the many IRS electronic options for
individuals, large businesses, small businesses, software
companies and tax-exempt organizations. This one-stop
option provides access to information about e-file and
numerous IRS Internet options. The link can be found by

Issues / Responsibilities Workshop
Presented by IRS, Minnesota Department of Revenue
and Unemployment Insurance Tax experts, this
workshop will give you on a guided tour through the
maze of state and federal employment tax and other
reporting requirements.
The class is FREE, and offered
monthly at locations throughout the Twin Cities
area.
